Children are born free of dental disease, yet by adulthood 95% of the population has active gum disease and most people have experienced some tooth decay and even tooth loss.
It is our belief that disease can be prevented
with
preventive dentistry. Our aim is to provide your child with the best dental care available to secure their dental health. We ask parents to register their children from birth so that we can see them twice a year on the NHS to help them grow up free from dental disease.
Children's Dental Treatments
However, if your child does need treatment, we can offer them alternatives not generally available on the NHS, such as
mercury-free white fillings. To the children of members of our
Ball Tree Dental Care Plan we can offer these alternatives on the same terms as their parents.
Child Tooth Development
You child's teeth have already started to form when they
are born, and normally appear through the gum from
around 6 months old - most often from the front of the
mouth first. But please don't worry if your baby's teeth
erupt after this time, it is quite normal to expect
teeth to take another couple of months to come through
When teeth erupt they may sometimes appear to be out of
position or a bit crooked. This is fairly common and in
most cases, with baby teeth, it corrects itself within
months of their full eruption. If your child has a thumb
(or other digit), dummy or blanket sucking habit then
this can lead to some teeth remaining out of position.
Your dentist can easily confirm this for you. In many
cases when the habit ceases then the teeth may move to
their correct position.
